Diamond Hill Plywood 200
CE DIEHARDS - May 7, 2008 - Race Previews

Carl Edwards looked to have the dominant car last weekend in Richmond, however, strategy at the end of the race backfired on the team.  This weekend the team will arrive at Darlington, hoping to get their first victory of the season and first at the famed Darlington Raceway.
This week's car chassis for the Diamond Hil Plywood 200:  Carl Edwards will be driving Chassis RK-554 this weekend at Darlington Raceway.  Edwards last raced the chassis at California in February to a fifth place finish in the event.
Making a run at Bowyer:  Even though the team did not record  a victory last weekend in Richmond, Edwards did cut into point leader Clint Bowyer's lead.  Edwards went from being 27 points behind after Talladega to being only 9 points behind after Richmond.  However, both have a new competitor that is only 3 paints behind Edwards, 12 points behind Bowyer.
Carl Edwards on racing at Darlington Raceway:
"Darlington is my favorite track.  It has a lot of history, but also has a personality of its own.  There's a reason they call the track "Too Tough to Tame."  It's a super fast track, but has a unique shape.  They have a new surface and I h ope that doesn't take any of the fun or mystique away.  I was at Darlington Raceway with David Person a few weeks ago and he showed me a few ideas about how to go faster at the track.  It will be another night race and I would love to collect a victory there with Scotts."
Crew Chief Pierre Kuettel on racing at Darlington Raceway:
“We are excited about taking the Scotts Water Smart Ford Fusion to Darlington Raceway.  We have had some close calls at Darlington.  Carl almost qualified on the pole in 2006 but he brushed the wall on his second qualifying  lap causing some minor damage.  We didn't want to take a chance with the damage so we fixed it and had to start in the back.  We still managed to secure a top-10 finish.  Last year we got a top-10 finish.  Last ear we got a top-five, we are getting closer.  Darlington is a fast track that is going to be extremely tough to tame this year because of the new surface.  I am confident we can challenge for the win this time around.
