Aaron’s 312 Pre-Race Notes
CE DIEHARDS – April 23, 2008 – Race Previews

After a fourth place finish in Mexico City last weekend, Carl Edwards will go to the biggest and fastest superspeedway there is, Talladega Superspeedway and try to make another gain in the standings
Talladega History: Carl Edwards has scored two top-ten finishes in three starts at Talladega Superspeedway, however, both of the finishes are tenth place finishes from the past two seasons.  Edwards has completed 310 of 357 laps, leading 12 of those.  He has an average start of 11.0 and an average finish of 17.7.  He has collected $67,240 in money winnings at the track.
This weekend’s chassis for Talladega:   Crew chief Pierre Kuettel and the No. 60 Roush Fenway crew will be taking the same car that they ran in the opening event of the season to a tenth place finish, Chassis No. RK-368.
Gaining on the leader:  Carl Edwards was able to make another marginal gain on point leader Clint Bowyer last weekend with another top-five finish at Mexico City.   Edwards  has had back-to-back finishes that have been gainers on leader Bowyer, as he is now only 9 points behind the leader going into this weekend’s race.
Save A Lot Back: After their one race stint at Las Vegas, Save A Lot Grocery Stores will return to the hood of the No. 60 Ford Fusion.  Bringing back the red, white and blue colors.
Edwards on racing at Talladega Superspeedway:
"I can't wait to tackle Talladega with Save-A-Lot as our sponsor. I've had my ups and downs there, but our restrictor-plate program has been improving. Talladega is a track that is very fast, but more importantly you have to draft well with several partners. The key is to stay out of the dreaded "Big One" and finish in the top five to have a good point day."
Crew Chief Pierre Kuettel (P.K.) on racing at Talladega Superspeedway:
“This will be one of our most exciting races. Our Superspeedway car just keeps getting better and better. Our Save-A-Lot team hopes to improve on the 10th-place finish we got at Daytona. We know that we have to stay focused and stay out of trouble. It would be so awesome to win our first Superspeedway race at Talladega this weekend. Carl has the ability to win on any race track at any given race. I am looking forward to Saturday afternoon.”
