After a career best finish in Martinsville one weekend ago, Carl Edwards will go to Texas to look for his 2nd win at the 1.5 mile Texas Motor Speedway.
FINISHING WHAT WAS STARTED IN ATLANTA: Crew Chiefs Chris Andrews and Robbie Reiser will be taking Chassis RK-570 to the track this weekend.  The car looked to be heading towards a victory at the track before the engine on the No. 99 Ford Fusion expired after leading 33 laps.  The car will carry the AFLAC colors this weekend at the track.
SIX RACES AT TEXAS: Carl Edwards has made seven starts at the 1.5 mile Texas Motor Speedway, he has won one race at the track, scored one top-five, one top-ten finish, has an average start of 22.2 and an average finish of 18.2 and won a total of $1,000,500.
GAINING IN THE POINTS: After his engine expired in Atlanta, Carl Edwards took a drop in the points standings to 17th, and needed some huge gains.  He has made a 4 position gain in the standings by moving to 14th in the standings, and sits only 54 points behind Clint Bowyer for 12th.
Carl Edwards on racing at Texas Motor Speedway:
“I’ve had a lot of success at Texas throughout my career and I am hoping to continue that this weekend. All the guys on this No. 99 team have been working really hard all year, and I am confident that the Aflac team will be competitive this weekend.”
Crew Chief Chris Andrews on racing at Texas Motor Speedway:
“After a few weeks of running in the top 10 and not getting the finish we expected, we came home from Martinsville with a ninth-place finish. It was Carl's best finish there in the Cup car. It was great to get the finish we deserved after a few tough weeks. Based on our performance at Atlanta last month, we're all looking forward to getting to Texas. The racetracks are similar, and Carl considers Texas to be one of his favorite tracks. It should be a good race for the Aflac team.”
